The love and loyalty of a dog are among life’s greatest gifts. The Senior Dog Project was created by Rachel Flynn as a heartfelt tribute to the companions who have walked beside us through every season of life — celebrating their wisdom, devotion, and spirit through the art of fine art dog photography in West Gippsland, Victoria and beyond.

Loyalty, Love, and a Lifetime Together

As the sister project to the Senior Horse Project, the Senior Dog Project was born from Rachel Flynn’s deep affection for dogs and her recognition of their quiet magic. Based in Neerim South, West Gippsland, Victoria, Rachel has spent years photographing horses and the faithful dogs who are never far from their side — the ever-present companions who wait patiently at the edge of the paddock, loyal to the last.

Over time, these impromptu “pawtraits” evolved into something far more meaningful. Rachel noticed that many of these dogs were entering their twilight years — their faces greying, their steps slower, yet their eyes still full of love and light. It became clear that these loyal hearts, too, deserved to have their stories told through fine art canine photography.

Through this project, Rachel honours the lifelong bond between people and their senior dogs. To photograph a senior dog is to pause time — to capture the softness in their gaze, the wisdom in their expression, and the quiet strength of their companionship.

This project was created to honour and celebrate our senior dogs through fine art photography — preserving their legacy, love, and spirit for generations to come.

🐾 At dog-friendly parks and locations across regional Victoria and Australia-wide during travel sessions
🐾 Mid-week in Gippsland and Australia wide most weekends
